Mary McManus, the poet at large for the show, read “Only Good News” from her collection of inspirational poetry New World Greetings: Inspirational Poetry and Musings for a New World. It’s a wonderful reminder how our perspective shapes our worldview. I’m grateful that she’s allowing me to share it.
Only Good News
How many times you get the call, “Bad news I have today”
Bad news could be good news if you head your mind that way.
Someone’s ill – a blessing – a chance for them to grow
Or someone now lay dying – joy awaits beyond what we can know.
“I fell down and broke my leg,” said with a scowling face
I smile with a quick reply, “It grows stronger in the broken place.”
Pessimist or optimist, the choice is yours to make
As for me there’s only good news, that’s the path I take.
